Submission of abstracts
Those wishing to contribute to the symposium are first invited to submit an abstract of their paper, using the template which can be downloaded from this website.
Abstracts should be emailed to abstracts@cobra2012.com by Thursday 1 March 2012. Authors will then receive confirmation of acceptance of their abstracts within a maximum of 3 weeks of submission.
Submission of papers
Subject to prior approval of an abstract, authors are invited to submit their papers for inclusion in the symposium. All papers are subject to peer review before being accepted for presentation at the conference and publication in the conference proceedings. The deadline for receipt of abstracts is Friday 1 June 2012.
Papers should be between 4,000 words and 7,500 words in length and should be presented and formatted strictly in accordance with the law paper template which can be downloaded from this website. Completed papers should then be emailed to papers@cobra2012.com.
Publication in peer-reviewed journal
A number of journal-quality articles based on papers presented during the symposium will also be published in the International Journal of Law in the Built Environment. Authors who are interested in submitting a high quality manuscript to the journal arising out of their symposium contribution should therefore communicate their intention to the editor when submitting their final conference paper. Manuscripts must strictly conform to the journal's published author guidelines and must be submitted via its online submission facility within 2 months of the date of the conference.
Pre-conference law delegates' meeting
Working Commission W113 will also hold an informal planning meeting on the eve of the symposium - during the morning of Tuesday 11th September. All symposium delegates are most welcome to attend this meeting, to contribute to discussions about the Commission's future direction, and to meet some of the other law delegates in advance of the symposium. The meeting will be held jointly with the following CIB Task Groups:
- TG67 - Construction Adjudication
- TG68 - Construction Mediation
- TG79 - Building Regulation and Control in the Face of Climate Change
- TG80 - Legal and Regulatory Aspects of Building Information Modelling (BIM)
Conference registration and hotel accommodation
The conference organisers have not yet released details of the conference registration arrangements. This site will be updated with this information as soon as it becomes available. However, our understanding is that the conference registration fee will be in the region of £350 GBP. The fee will include attendance on all 3 days of the conference, and at the gala dinner on the Wednesday evening. This figure does not include the cost of hotel accommodation, although this will be available to delegates at a discounted rate ($95 USD per night) in the Monte Carlo hotel, with booking available from April 2012.
